Cowes Week

This eight-day regatta of sailing and yacht racing is one of the largest and most famous in the world.
A typical Cowes Week now has over thirty-five starts a day for classes of cruiser-racers, one-off design and keelboats, over 1,000 boats and 8,500 competitors take part. During this time the Solent is filled with boats of all classes and is particularly colourful due to the multi-coloured sails.
The week also includes a large number of onshore events including live music and cocktail parties. The regatta is famous for its fireworks launched from barges on the Solent on the final Friday.
Forget the Isle of Wight ferry and obligatory traffic jams and charter a helicopter direct to Cowes.
